Should I take food on my bike ride?

Yes, Most cyclists bring at least some trail mix on a bike ride. Many cyclists prefer “Clif Bars”, which provide 230 - 250 calories and are only about $0.99 each.

If you don’t eat, you can “bonk”. This is a state of “I can’t pedal one more stroke”. When this happens, your legs get very fatigued, and in advanced cases, people may get anxious, depressed, or can even break down in tears. The solution is simply to eat and rest. After an hour of rest, and a good meal, a “bonked” rider will feel re-energized and his/her mental condition will improve.
